Standard Communities and Clear: partners in water quality
Standard Communities, a leading national affordable housing investor and developer, has announced its partnership with Clear Inc. to provide a centralised water purification system at Imperial Tower, a 187-unit affordable community in Sacramento.
The new system elevates the community's standard of living by integrating industry-leading centralised purification technology, providing unlimited access to purified water from every tap, shower and fountain throughout the property.
Clear installs, monitors and services UV reactors that purify water at the point of entry for the whole building. The technology uses a medium-pressure UV lamp emitting a broad spectrum of energy wavelengths. Those wavelengths destroy DNA, RNA and proteins, inactivating microbes including bacteria, viruses, protozoa, algae and fungi. Clear UV also reduces chlorine levels, which improves the taste and smell of the water and promotes healthier hair and skin.
“The water at Imperial Tower met EPA standards prior to implementing Clear's technology at the property, but we wanted to go beyond that. Our commitment to excellence and the wellbeing of our residents drives us to exceed regulatory requirements.”
"By integrating Clear's water purification system, we ensure that our residents receive the highest quality water available," Johnson added. "This industry-leading system not only enhances water safety but also demonstrates our dedication to providing top-tier amenities at no additional cost to our residents."
Clear is trusted across many industries, including major bottled water manufacturers such as Nestlé and Fiji. As an affordable housing innovator, Standard Communities is the first to bring this industry-trusted technology directly to those who are especially vulnerable to waterborne illness.
“Low-income communities are struggling to afford bottled water, or under-the-sink filters, or good health insurance, and more often than not are sitting on neglected city infrastructure. Even preventing a single sick day will have a powerful impact.”
"I am very proud to work with Standard Communities to retrofit existing affordable housing with such essential healthy infrastructure," Blutrich said. "We look forward to partnering with Clear again and adding their technology to more of our properties in the future," said Johnson.
